During COVID-19 our peer-based harm reduction street outreach has grown expontentially, with our staff getting more Narcan, more syringes, more safer sex materials, and more basic needs materials into the hands of folks who need it than ever before. But we simply cannot keep up with the demand for basic needs items - food, water bottles, razors, socks, underwear, etc.
The expression is, "A hungry person can't hear." Despite the resurgence of overdose deaths in Rhode Island, the folks we serve are increasingly focused on fundamental needs such as securing enough food and warm clothing as the weather turns colder. Increasingly, our clients are faced with a series of impossible choices every day such as trying to get space in a full shelter during a pandemic, risk violence or HIV infection for a place to stay, or sleep outside.
Please consider making a charitable donation today or lead a seasonally appropriate clothing drive to help our clients not merely survive, but know that they matter.
$10 donation equals: 80 water bottles, enough to cover an entire shift!
$20 donation: purchases socks for 10 clients!
$40 donation: 160 hand warmers!
$75 donation: Food for two shifts of outreach!
Thank you for your generosity!
