Join us in Chicago for the 2020 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Project Purple has a mission of a world without pancreatic cancer and our runners help us get one step closer with every stride.
Pancreatic cancer will become the #2 killer of all major cancers in the USA by 2020 and we need your help to fund more research and help more families fighting.
I am so thrilled to join the team and run the 2020 Chicago marathon. It has always been a dream of mine to run a marathon and there's no better way to do it than with a team of individuals supporting an amazing cause!
A very close friend of mine was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on August 31st 2017 and she shortly passed away only a few weeks later on October 4th 2017. Megan was in her 30s, full of life, energetic and had an amazing positive spirit. She maintained a determined strength and quiet dignity throughout her short battle with the disease. Even while in the hospital she brought constant smiles and laughter to her friends and family. She had a very lively view on life and loved to find a way to connect with people. She made a huge impact on my life and I'd like to give back. I am forever grateful to have met her and have been considered her friend. She’s taught me to have courage, strength, and determination in everything I do. As the last two years have passed without her, I’ve asked myself many times, “what would Megan do?” I’ve learned that it’s not about moving on but taking with me the abundance of lessons I’ve learned from my friendship with her and embracing her life as I move forward.
About a year after my friend Megan passed away, I lost my Uncle Charles to pancreatic cancer also. It was all too familiar. I'd like to honor him and everyone we've lost too soon to this terrible disease.
