Friends and Family!
Last year I played with the thought of running a Marathon, but I convinced myself that I wasn't a runner and that I could postpone it. As you may know a few months ago my family received news that we never thought was possible - my father, George, was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. The passed few weeks I have seen how strong he is as he fights this cancer every single day while he continues to go to work, chemotherapy, and spend time with family.
Next year I will be running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon fundraising for Project Purple. Pancreatic cancer will become the #2 killer of all major cancers in the USA by 2020 and we need your help to fund more research and help more families fighting. This organization's mission is to find a cure for pancreatic cancer and improve the lives of patients through support, hope, and compassion.
If you feel inclined to donate, my famliy and I would appreciate the help in fighting this disease. This cause is near and dear to me and I wish to see a world without pancreatic cancer and I hope you do as well! Now its time to train.....26.2 miles here I come! (Never thought I would ever say that)
UPDATE: I am overwhelmed with the amount of donations, I was able to hit my goal of $1,500 within 2 months! With that I would love to up my goal to $3,000 by race day in October! As many of you may have heard George passed away in Septemeber but I know he will be there with me as I run every mile! I cannot thank you all enough, this means the world to me and my family!
