I'm so excited to be running my first marathon in honor of my mom who passed away from pancreatic cancer two years ago. When she found out, she was already at stage 4, and even though doctors told her that with chemo she had several months, she lost her battle just three weeks after diagnonis.
As it stands today, there is NO early detection and NO known cure for pancreatic cancer, and in fact, pancreatic cancer only receives 5% of the funds allocated by the government for cancer research.
To make matters worse, 80% of those diagnosed will die within 6 months. It has the lowest surivival rate of all major cancers.
I can't help but think that if there was early detection, we may have gotten a few extra weeks, months, or even years, with my mom. We need to make advancements in this area, and your donation (any amout) to Project Purple, will help.
Thank you in advance for your support!
