Team Pretzel Hands is getting ready to take on the streets of Washington, D.C. at the Marine Corps Marathon this year! Ashton and Jonathan have completed 6 races together so far this year (11 total since they started racing together) and have a couple more planned before the end of the year, including this year's Marine Corps Marathon! If you know anything about these two, it's if you suggest something, they conspire and inspire each other to make it happen!
About Jonathan - Jonathan is a student at Blue Ridge Community College pursuing his RN where he will later go back to his home school of James Madison University to finish his Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Jonathan is a very active volunteer in the community as a firefighter, rescue tech and ambulance driver for the local fire house and rescue squad. Spending much of his free time at the different houses, his remaining free time is spent with friends and running of course! Jonathan has completed 8 full marathons and numerous other races and triathlons. Jonathan takes pride in volunteering and loves making a difference in the communities he serves. For him, it's not about the race or the medal; it's about making a difference in his best friend’s life. In his own words, "I can’t imagine racing any other way”.
About Ashton - Ashton has Autism and low muscle tone as well as other related issues due to his Autism. But he doesn’t let that stop him from doing what he loves most, racing - especially with his favorite racing partner and best friend. “It’s a great idea!” he says. He has done over 160 races of varying distances and types in his 8+ years of racing. Marathons are his favorite because he gets to sit and enjoy the sights, listen to good music, and eat a lot of pretzels - all while enjoying the company of his runners and inspiring them to go faster. He's even been known to offer to push you if you're not going fast enough for his liking! HAHA! When he's racing with Ainsley's Angels, he gets to do things that he wouldn't otherwise get to do, and that’s to be a part of something bigger than himself.
Their fundraising goal is $1,775 which will ensure they will both be at the start line of this year's marathon, and ensure that any other special needs individual that wants to be involved in endurance racing, can be with the help of Ainsley's Angels and the many chapters across the United States.
Please consider a donation to help these two amazing young men get to Washington DC this October to race in one of their biggest racing adventures together, yet! No donation is too small, and every single one is much appreciated!
Thank you for your support of Team Pretzel Hands and of Ainsley's Angels of America!
