In the next few months the York County Board of Supervisors will decide whether to allow the rezoning of 376 acres in Upper York from Rural Residential to Planned Development Residential (high-density planned community). This would enable them to build 599 homes instead of the 288 allowed by current zoning. In addition to the loss of habitat and the rural ambience we love, this will dramatically increase traffic congestion in the I-64/199/Rochambeau/Airport Rd/Mooretown Rd area. Although the Planning Commission voted to recommend denial of the proposal, the Board of Supervisors is not bound to abide by their recommendation.
Help us continue to fight this rezoning. We must keep up the pressure on the Board of Supervisors and the developer. Lawyers, websites and advertising take money.
