The current health crisis is having a profound impact on children’s learning. As a national nonprofit, PowerMyLearning is committed to helping educators who are struggling to provide equitable learning experiences for every student and bring their families into the learning process. The data is stark: one third of those below the poverty level rely on mobile-only Internet access.
This is why we made the decision to offer Family Playlists® free of charge to all schools and districts impacted by COVID-19 from now through the end of the school year. Family Playlists are completely mobile enabled and can be delivered in more than 100 languages. They are interactive homework assignments where students teach what they are learning to a family member, usually a parent, who then provides feedback to the teacher about the experience. Family Playlists are built on the learning science behind the adage “you don’t really know something until you teach it to someone else” and they have proven results in student achievement and social-emotional learning.
Demand for Family Playlists is skyrocketing and we need your help. Please consider making a donation to help us provide this wonderful resource to schools and districts across the country for free. Your gift today will go far: 100% of your donation will be matched by the #HelpTheHelpers campaign.
Since PowerMyLearning’s inception 20 years ago, our goal has been to strengthen the “triangle” of learning relationships between students, teachers, and families. With all the challenges facing the education space, now is the time to leverage technology as a tool to build relationships around learning. With Family Playlists, students, teachers, and families can have generative conversations—anytime, anyplace.
