WE'RE NOT DONE YET!
We started this project back in 2010, with a paper application to buy four lots along the Davison Expressway. After a few years of bureaucracy and early attempts at grantwriting (thank you National Endowment for the Arts) & fundraising (thank you Pat Miller, Andrew Davis, and all the artists who donated to the Good Wood board auction, the bidders, and many local sponsors & supporters) the Phase 1 build got underway in summer 2012 (thank you Snowman, Tony Miorana & Anti-Hero crew, Joe Brook and P-Stone, R.I.P.) followed in the fall of 2013 with Phase 2 (thank you Evergreen Skateparks and the Tony Hawk Foundation).
This brings us to Phase 3. After a few more years of bureaucracy, fundraising and grantwriting (thank you Kresge Foundation!!), this final phase of the park got underway this October (thanks again Evergreen) – welcome to the best snake run this side of the Mississippi. This phase also includes artwork by renowned artist Nari Ward (thank you Joyce Foundation and National Endowment for the Arts) who we've been working with since 2015 on a series of public pieces to be installed at Ride It titled G.O.A.T. Come see the first in all its glory at the corner of E. Davison & Klinger.
WHO WANTS TO COME HANG OUT?!!
With concrete work setting up just in time for the temperature to drop, we still have some business to finish. Ride It Sculpture Park needs an extra boost to get to where we need it to be (and get the City to sign off on closing out our permit). These additional funds will go toward:
– solar & wind powered lighting
– rain garden planting
– water bills & drainage fees
– buffalo grass planting & landscaping
– sustainable composite decking
– permanent fire pit
– BBQ area with grills, picnic tables & bench seating
– additional guardrails
– accessible & skateable ramp.
WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF THIS?
Free access to Ride It Sculpture Park from dawn 'til dusk 365 days a year. Amazing, right?! But if that's not incentive enough, we also offer:
$100 One Ride It t-shirt delivered to your door
$250 Have your name spraypainted in bubble letters on the park
$500 Signed artist book "Nari Ward: G.O.A.T., again" published by Socrates Sculpture Park
$1,000 Hot dog & marshmallow roast at Ride It in your honor
