The facility has 6750 ft2 floor space and facilities for meetings (small and moderately large groups), preparation and serving of meals including utensils, outdoor utilization, parking, furniture (tables and chairs) for these activities and toilet facilities. The American Legion Smith-Reynolds Post 14 facility has been located here for the past 19 years and is starting to show its age. We would like to engage in a revitalization of the facility to carry on our veterans and community responsibilities. With the continuous use over time the costs of maintaining the equipment and facility have grown to the point that upgrading and/or replacement has become a current need. This work will be completed in 3 phases and as funding is made available to complete each phase, taking into consideration for the Safety and the needs of our Veterans and minimal interruption of Community activities.
· Phase 1: 1. – The parking lot even with ongoing repairs has becoming an exceptionally large safety concern. A total excavation of existing parking lot, new rock base, new 3-inch-thick blacktop paving of the existing parking area and new concrete curbing is the best needed Safety option currently. With a cost of $109,599.00, is needed to complete Phase 1. ·
Phase 2: 1. to secure from leaks and prevent further degeneration of the roof framing and protection of the building structure. 2. (4) units are in need of a major maintenance overhaul & upgrade with 20+ years of service. This needs to be accomplished in order to continue with our mission of serving our Veterans, the youth and others in our community through our programs. With a Cost of $117,768.00, is needed complete Phase 2. · Phase 3: 1. now 20 + years old including: gas stove, steam tables, dish washing equipment, counter serving equipment and sinks. Ice machine, large cooler, freezer. They are reaching the end of their useful life and while still usable are requiring growing maintenance with labor and parts being difficult to find. 2. Upgrade; The facility is 69 years old and the electrical wiring system is in need of upgrade and revitalization. This includes the consideration of solar panels for operations of 24/7 of inside and outside lighting equipment & security equipment. 3. – The Post and our community partners have used the outdoor spaces for meetings and barbecues etc. As a part of the revitalization the Post would like to add to the usable space and facilities for continued outdoor and expanded use of our available space. With a cost of $121,633.00, is needed to complete Phase 3.
