Sometimes an 18 year old foster kid just needs a break. The law says these kids are ready to live on their own. So with minimal resources these foster kids "age out" of the system.
We believe this transition would be easier if, with your HELP, we turned their barren apartments into homes.
A Sense of Home (ASOH) is a disruptor model that transforms the lives of foster youth who “age out” of foster care.
ASOH creates the first ever home of foster youth who “age out” of foster care by intervening before homelessness and/ or before a return to homelessness. Run by program recipients, the staff works with volunteers like us to furnish the youth’s space with quality donated furniture to provide dignity, self-worth and a foundation to thrive. Having never felt like they belonged in a home, their new inspired space is an opportunity for the youth to finally belong in the world and a foundation from which they can build a healthy new beginning.
Our dear friend Kathy Thomson strived to make the world a better place. Homelessness and foster care youth were causes near and dear to her. We also feel strongly about supporting these causes. Several of us encounter foster and/or homeless children in our daily work.
We are inspired to continue to positively impact our world.
We hope you will join us!
