Hey Everyone! It's that time of year again!
The Warwick Valley Humane Society will be holding their 5th Annual Polar Plunge on Sunday, February 17th. This year the event will be held as part of the Greenwood Lake Winter Carnival at Thomas P. Morahan Beach at the end of Windermere Ave in Greenwood Lake.
Most of you already know we had a new addition to our family this year. Wayne and I adopted Molly from the humane society in November, and she has been a perfect fit to our family. She gets along famously with our two cats, Grizzly and JP (also from the humane society). As grateful as we are to the Warwick Valley Humane Society for helping us find the perfect dog, we are also very aware of the help they need to continue their mission.
When we were visiting the shelter this summer, a phone call came in for 10 kittens that needed a home. Suzyn Baron, President of the WVHS, looked at me and said, "We have no room!", but then turned to the receptionist and told her to tell the caller they would take them. I am constantly floored by the dedication the staff and volunteers have for the welfare of the animals in need. And it's a service that affects everyone in our community, from the pets, to the families that foster and adopt, and the neighbors and businesses who find and rescue abandoned animals.
As usual, I look for a costume to wear for the plunge when I reach my fundraising goal. This year, if I collect $1,000 in donations, I will be jumping in the lake as a MERMAID! (Thanks to Michelle from the shelter for the suggestion!) Please support me by donating to the my Crowdrise page! Thank you!
