The Annapolis Poker Run has transcended a single fun-filled day on the Chesapeake Bay and is creating a lasting impact on the quality of life for current and future melanoma patients. The generous donations from participants and friends of the Poker Run have directly supported the advancement of life-changing cancer research affecting countless patients.
To date, the Poker Run has raised over $17,000 for the Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA). MRA is the largest non-profit funder for melanoma research and has played an integral part in accelerating groundbreaking advances in oncology. These advances have doubled the 5-year survival rate for people with late-stage metastatic melanoma, and new treatments and approaches on the horizon offer even greater hope.
As a recent survivor of Stage 4 Melanoma, I have been fortunate to benefit from the research and treatment protocols pioneered by MRA and their partners. However, not everyone that receives my diagnosis will be as fortunate. Let's use the Poker Run to continue to support MRA's mission to advance cures for all patients and prevent more melanomas.
