Hello! My name is Jade Baumrind and I need your support! I have been given such an incredible opportunity to run in the 2020 Boston Marathon for the Pedro Martinez Foundation.
My story started when I was adopted from China when I was 3 months old, by two extremely loving women. My whole life I grew up in Bangor, Maine playing soccer, softball and running indoor track, eventually earning a degree in Engineering. Whenever I wasn't playing sports, I was watching Boston dominate in sports, including the fall of the Curse of the Bambino in which Pedro won game 3.
Post-college I have gotten into running, as daily soccer practices have disappeared. Now I get the privilege of running in arguably the most famous marathon in the world, for one of baseball's all time best pitchers, Pedro Martinez.
Signing up for this race and committing to raise $10,000 for the Pedro Martinez Foundation has given a new meaning to my running. I am no longer only running for myself, I am running to help at risk youth develop a sense of identity and empowerment. The Pedro Martinez Foundation gives support, assistance, and educational programs that positively impact the lives of children and families in vulnerable communities. I am running to be a part of something bigger, for all of the children who need a little help, love and inspiration. Without the love and support that my adoptive parents gave me, my life may have ended up a whole different story.
So thank you for taking the time to read my story and considering a donation to this wonderful cause on my behalf. All donations will go directly to the Pedro Martinez Foundation. Now it's time to go get my train on for April 20, 2020!

Pedro Martinez Foundation began over 10 years ago, and we have reached hundreds of thousands of children and families. We provide meals, clean water, education, scholarships, job training skills, day care services, hurricane relief assistance, new home construction, sports education, and so much more. We are more successful now than ever before, and we are only getting bigger!
It is our belief that it "takes a village" to raise a child and support a family, therefore we truly rally around children and families, to allow them to have a brighter future today and tomorrow!
We are ecstatic about our third year with a team running to represent our Foundation, and all the families we provide support to!
