Far too many of us have been touched by cancer...so what to do? Educate ourselves on prevention, offer support and love to our patients along their journey, and fight like hell for a cure. As many of you know, my sister Maureen was diagnosed with cancer at the young age of 28 and passed away two years later. Having a loved one battle cancer and seeing what this disease does…well, it changes you. It can make you bitter or make you better…we have to try to go for the latter.
I am riding in the Pan Mass Challenge this year, which raises money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. To be quite honest, with so many charity events for cancer research, it can be difficult to chose where to direct your dollars. The PMC is the most successful fundraising event for charity in the nation and also among the leanest. Being a part of this movement has been pulling at my heart strings and Now is the Time.
I often find myself saying “I hope one day they find a cure” and I need to rephrase that to “I hope one day WE find a cure.” I’ll push the pedals, but I have one ask to make this a success. Will you join me and be a part of the WE?
Please consider making a donation towards my ride and it would be my honor to ride in honor or in memory of one of your loved ones. I have the honor of riding with the Boston Bruins team and the team uses crowdrise for their fundraising so we ask for all donations to come through thise site. A separate, personal donation is then made to the PMC with 100% of our dollars. I have committed to raising $5,000 and I know WE can do it! Again, Now is the Time.
