This was the worst month to launch a co-working and event space.
Or at least, that’s the thought that keeps rolling in my head.
I had all kinds of dreams about the types of people that would be using our space and the dreams launched within the four walls of our new building. Well, we opened the doors with momentum and closed them two weeks later. So, herein lies the problem. Our team was expecting $5,000 per month of revenue from our event space that will now be sitting empty for a while.
Our organization is not only dependent on that income, but on much more from all of our programs. In total, we have already been forced to cut $400,000 from our budget. Meanwhile, every small business and non-profit organization in the world is being hit with even greater loss than we can imagine.
What if this is the moment that brings us all together in different ways?
We believe the work of Plywood People has never been more needed than today. The community needs us. We believe this community will grow exponentially larger in days ahead as people everywhere are evaluating their purpose, gaining courage to dream, and looking for training on how to innovate for a new normal.
Plywood People has never been needed more.
Our friend, JJ Jaxon, who just launched his new company Mission MightyMe, recently told us “we would not have made it to this moment without the support and guidance of Plywood People.” His story and his project are creating new possibilities for kids and families, by helping prevent food allergies. They are one of many we are helping sustain now.
When others describe Plywood, they say: Community and Inspiration. So, we asked a few friends for help to make a video that embodies who we are. In 24 hours, we received 56 different videos from people. Why? Because our community cares. They care about what they do. They care about what others do. They care about what we do.
This is our collective gift. Together, we created a story to give you hope and encourage all of us.
Please help us out.
“Here’s to possibility” for encouragement and please share with friends.
Support our Campaign:
Please, consider supporting the work of Plywood to continue to serve start-ups doing good. Help us make up for a major loss in events and programming.
Will you donate $50 today to our Possibility Campaign? Every $50 donation will be sent a free T-Shirt provided by a donor.
How will money be used?
We will use this money to offer free or reduced training to start-ups doing good through virtual workshops and training programs. This will also help sustain our organizational costs to ensure we are ready for the next phase of Plywood People.
Here’s to possibility. May we see it. May we embrace it.
P.S. I just donated so everyone in my family could get a shirt. Please join me.
