I am participating in a polar plunge to raise money for Samaritans, a nonprofit based in Boston that helps prevent suicide and provides education on suicide awareness.
Last year, my siblings + significant others began a new holiday tradition of choosing a nonprofit to raise money for during the holidays. 2020 has no doubt been an incredibly challenging year for people everywhere so this year we chose Samaritans in the hopes that more people will have access to the resources and help they may need.
Samaritans helps to "reduce the incidence of suicide by alleviating despair, isolation, distress and suicidal feelings among individuals."
You can find more on Samaritans here: https://samaritanshope.org/
To help raise additional donations, I will be taking not one but two polar plunges! While safely visiting my parents in Middletown, Rhode Island, I will be taking the plunge at 2nd beach and then the following week on Pacific Beach in San Diego, California.
I hope you will consider making a donation today and cheering me on as I jump into the very chilly water!
Dates of the Plunge:
Middletown, Rhode Island: Friday December 25
San Diego, CA: Thursday December 31
