2019 Special Olympics’ Polar Plunge Annual Fundraiser
Generous friends - if you feel so inclined, Please help Marlene and I reach our fundraising goal.
Here’s a video our Fearless Leader David Francis put together highlighting last year’s event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEYECdywDQw
Very few things give us greater pleasure than raising money for worthwhile charities - especially ones that benefit children and overall making positive memories for kids.
Sunday March 3rd, our cardiologist has once again cleared us to join a great group of guys and gals to take part in the annual Special Olympics’ Polar Plunge event held on Chicago’s Lakefront.
Alternatively we’d LOVE to have you join our Plungaholic’s Team. Three years ago there were 3 people that made up the Team, two years ago we were 28 strong, last year we set the goal to reach 50 people strong to commemorate the Special Olympics’ 50th Anniversary – we actually reached 65 people. This year we’re hoping each past participant will recruit one person to bring our Team up to 100 strong.
To join our Team use this link and click on Register: https://www.crowdrise.com/plungaholics Click on 11AM Plunge and follow Plungaholics and fill in information.

This is the Special Olympics largest event raising money for the 7,200 Chicago area wonderful children which provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
There are a lot of great charities out there but (with these wonderful kids and the Olympic spirit in mind) if you feel compelled to help me reach my goal that would be fantastic. If you’re receiving a tax refund in a couple months maybe consider donating a little this way.
Below are a few examples of what your donation purchases for the kiddos:
· $25 – volleyball, tennis racket, powerlifting uniform, or bocce set
· $50 – pair of snowshoes or softball bat for the athletes
· $100 – lift ticket and ski rental for alpine ski athletes
· $200 - school bus to events Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Thank you in advance for your consideration and support!
