At YWCA Rochester, our mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Our vision is to be recognized as an influential leader in racial equity, housing, and young adult services for women and families. For the past 14 years, YWCA of Rochester has relied on our signature event, the Empowering Women Luncheon, to raise funds to support our shelter, housing, and young adult programs. This year, we re-envision our luncheon and offer innovative ways to continue supporting Rochester women and families in need. We believe that our community requires us to do the right thing, even if the implications are challenging, and we know that we cannot build a better Rochester without you.
The year 2020 celebrates the 100th year since the passing of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote, but the fight is not yet over. At YWCA Rochester, we offer housing programs that ensure women and families move from homelessness to long-term stability. We provide the tools to help women in need, but we need your help.
We are grateful for the support we have received over the years and believe that when we use our collective power to support our fellow community members, we can empower women, eliminate racism, and create the systemic change we need to root out all injustice. While 2020 requires us to set aside our 15th Annual Empowering Women Luncheon, there are still women and families who need our programs, services, and a safe place to call home. Join us and support our mission as we raise money to continue serving our community and supporting women who need us.
