Due the Covid-19 Pandemic, the PlayHouse of Fulton County has found itself unable to host the annual children's musical this summer and likely unable to pay the bills to be able to open next Summer. Several mitigating factors have caused the board of the Playhouse of Fulton County to regrettably cancel the 2020 summer production of the Children's Musical. First and foremost, the health and safety of our participants and patrons must be considered and maintained to the best of our ability. Second, even though Illinois is currently in stage 3 of the opening plan, and hopeful to enter stage 4 in July, we can not profitably host a children's show with a cast of over 35 actors and actresses, stage hands, directors, and additional support staff for an audience of 15 or less, which would be all the 50 person crowd would allow for us to have. Additionally, youth often find it difficult to project their voice loud enough as it is, adding face masks to the performances would further hinder their ability to be heard. The Playhouse of Fulton County is heavily dependent upon the sponsors and profits that the annual summer Children's Musical provides. Without said profits, we find ourselves unable to pay utility, maintain the facilities, and cover insurance costs, which could result in permanent shuttering of the doors. It is imperative that we receive support.
