Friends of Stewart Park, in partnership with the City of Ithaca, is excited to be building a new accessible playground in Stewart Park. Thanks to a very generous community we are close to achieving our $1.7M original campaign goal that is making this possible ! The Community Build, involving hundreds of volunteers, will construct Phase I of the playground from September 11th through September 16th, 2018! Phase II will follow in Spring ‘19. One of the most important features of the new playground is Accessible Safety Surfacing. This attractive, durable, state-of-the-art, surfacing will provide access to ALL playground structures for those who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices, and it's also terrific for parents pushing strollers.
The accessible surfacing is a key component of the new Stewart Park playground. It is also expensive. We invite you to help us raise the additional $100,000 needed to install this essential surfacing that will make the Stewart Park Playground truly accessible.
