Campaign closed - It is with extreme gratitude and humility that we thank each of you for your very generous donations, support, love and prayers.
Our fundraiser is coming to an end however our gratitude continues. It is because of you, because of your support and contributions, we have been able to thrive. We have been successful in providing access to vision care to hundreds of students in need.
Your contributions were instrumental in helping to repair the damages caused by the civil unrest and looting in the city of Chicago earlier this year. We were able to replace some of the damaged equipment and computers. Additionally, your generosity allowed us to begin preparation for next year, 2021, by extending our services to the underserved, financially challenged community of Englewood. If you are interested in continuing to support Plano, please go to our website for more information.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Plano Board & Staff
Throughout the day on May 31st, Plano Vision Center, one of Chicago's oldest, Black-owned vision care centers, was damaged and looted. We are in the process of surveying the space to gauge the full extent of the damage and impact on vision services to the community.
Plano has been a fixture on the Southside of Chicago since 1959 providing vision care and not-for-profit services to children, adults, and families, including frequent visits to Chicago Public Schools. Their work has served thousands of low-income and minority families through vision health education, vision exams, and vision therapy.
Please consider providing a tax-deductible donation to rebuild this important community fixture in order to maintain access to vision health care for our community. All funds raised on this page will go towards supporting the restoration and reopening of the center.
We thank you all for your donations, kind messages, and prayers.
Although this is a tough time for Plano, we know that the property damaged on Sunday can be replaced. It doesn’t compare to the devastating loss of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, and the countless other Black lives lost to anti-Black violence. We stand with our community in solidarity and ongoing calls for justice.
