I saw an article today that showed a mile-long line into the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank where families were waiting to receive food. It shook me. Everyone I know has the ability to put food on their table. I can't imagine living through this time with the responsibility to feed a family, not knowing if I would have enough food for tomorrow. I know this is a crazy time with so much uncertainty, and I know the natural instinct is to clench our fists and hold on to what we have, but I believe there's power in numbers. If we as a group of people can come together to help support our community that needs food, we can help provide meals for thousands of people. If we raise just $500, we will supply food for 2,500 people. That's a lot of people, but I know we can supply more! We have been asked to stay in our homes until the end of April, and with so many people losing their jobs there's going to be a lot of need out there. So let's see if we can help 15,000 people by raising $3,000! If only 150 people donated $20, we'd hit our goal and make a huge impact in our community. I know we can do it!
Because of the stay at home order, the food bank isn't able to host volunteers to sort food donations, so they are only accepting monetary donations right now. This allows them to purchase the items they know they need in bulk and make a more immediate impact. https://www.pittsburghfoodbank.org/get-involved/food-drive/
