PITT OHIO is on the Road to End Hunger! Join us in our first Company-Wide Food Drive to support Feeding America across our network in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest.
When people face hunger, they often struggle to meet other basic needs as well — such as housing, employment and healthcare. Millions of people struggle to get by because of underemployment, stagnant wages and rising costs of living. That’s why we are partnering with Feeding America to provide food for the more than 46 million people who turn to the Feeding America network each year for extra support.
Why Now?
Many Americans think the best time to donate food is during the holiday season, which is definitely true. However, many food banks across our country struggle to provide help to those in need during the spring and summer months. Just think of all of those kids who are out of school for summer vacation and are now in need of a lunch that they would otherwise receive free in school. A child’s chance for a bright tomorrow starts with getting enough healthy food to eat today. But in America, 1 in 6 children may not know where they will get their next meal. For the nearly 13 million kids in the U.S. facing hunger, getting the energy they need to learn and grow can be a day-in, day-out challenge. By supporting Feeding America, we are helping our nationwide network of food banks deliver programs at the front line of hunger.
We have a responsibility to the next generation to give them every opportunity to succeed — which in turn will strengthen our communities and our country. That’s why feeding children facing hunger is a main priority of Feeding America, and now a main priority for PITT OHIO as well.
