Rebekka Thomas was a part of the MITRE McLean Softball league for two seasons. Though she wasn’t a MITRE employee, many of us at the company got the chance to know her after she subbed for every team. She was a determined and affable teammate. She’ll be remembered for her humor and fearlessness.
Rebekka passed away in November of 2018 from health related issues following a car accident. We memorialize her by creating this fundraiser for Pitch In For Baseball & Softball. Rebekka had a deep love for softball and we couldnt think of a better way to honor her.
Founded in 2005, Pitch In For Baseball & Softball believes that baseball and softball are effective tools for youth development. Not only do they give kids a chance to be a kid and play, but it also helps to create healthy communities, break down barriers, and instill valuable life lessons. PIFBS aims to reduce barriers to play and bring communities together by collecting and redistributing much needed baseball/softball equipment to groups serving under-resourced children. Since 2005, PIFB has donated more than $9 million in equipment to help 800,000 kids play ball in every state and 100 countries worldwide.
