The Honorable Mayor Dahlia O. Vertreese, Mayor of Hillside, in conjunction with Celia Fernandez proprietor of Prestige Auto-Wash are pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Pink Shuffle on the Hillside Event Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness. Due to COVID-19, we have decided not to have a walk, but instead do a month-long virtual fundraiser. Each person, company, school, team or organization donating on the website will have the ability to post personal pink shuffle videos supporting Breast Cancer Awareness and the American Cancer Society.
Mayor Dahlia O. Vertreese and Celia Fernandez would greatly appreciate your support in making this 3RD ANNUAL PINK SHUFFLE ON THE HILLSIDE a huge success.
Please donate and support us during the month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness. Gather your family, friends, classmates, form a team, show your PINK colors and post your personal videos dancing to the Cupid Shuffle on our instagram page HILLSIDEPINKSHUFFLE. All donations will go direct to the American Cancer Society.
Any donation would help, just follow the link by selecting the DONATE BUTTON. Thanks again for your support towards this special cause, not just for us, but for many of the survivors and families who are struggling today coping with breast cancer.
This event brings the Township of Hillside and surrounding communities together to promote breast cancer awareness and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Incorporated in 1913, Hillside has a long history of servicing a strong diverse population of residents. Hillside takes tremendous pride in our ability to maintain a quiet setting, an important characteristic of a suburban community, while conveniently located next to major urban municipalities. Thereby making it a wonderful place to live and work.
Celia Fernandez, a breast cancer survivor, has been an owner-operator of Prestige Auto-Wash along with her brother Frank, sister-in-law Marilyn and husband Lou. Prestige has four car wash locations; two in Hillside, on 1521 North Broad Street and 1357 Liberty Avenue with a Mobil 1 Quick-Lube Center. The other two are located on 323 Rahway Avenue, Elizabeth and 515 Lehigh Avenue, Union. Supporting breast cancer awareness has been her main objective since being diagnosed back in 2007. With the support from family, friends, and the American Cancer Society, she made it through surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. This October 2020, will be her 14th year as a survivor and 13th year raising money for the American Cancer Society’s fight against breast cancer. Many customers of Prestige have come up to her personally throughout the years thanking her and sharing their own stories. Inspired by her customers, Celia wanted to bring this event locally to the Township of Hillside.
She feels very honored and would like to thank Mayor Dahlia O. Vertreese, Business Administrator Hope Smith, the Health Department as well as other departments and dedicated township volunteers for agreeing to support this very special cause.
