Pinewood Community School is a home away from home for our students. Even during this difficult time of Hybrid and Distance Learning, our students are growing, learning and being taught how to learn and thrive during a pandemic. Our Pinewood teachers and staff are working diligently to teach our students in ways never imagined—through Zoom, behind a mask and from six feet apart.
Families have always been an integral part of Pinewood—volunteering time, attending conferences, participating in celebrations and welling up with pride during concerts and performances. This year is different. Pinewood, like all communities, is being faced with needs greater and more unanticipated than ever, but we can’t offer support within the building. So what can we do instead of being physically present? We can support teachers in the best way we can—give a donation so teachers have the resources to best support the students at Pinewood.
In the past, PTO has been able to support teachers by buying books for the library, art supplies, ChromeBooks, a Gaga Pit for the playground, field trip transportation, a movie screen and portable PA system to name just a few. The needs that are starting to become apparent for this year are: iPad chargers, online curriculum, virtual field trips and variable seating options.
Teachers and students have put together a video for you to see what your donation means to them.
PTO has set a goal to raise $10,000 (about $20 per student) to support our school community. Our first $2,000 has been generously matched by Rami the Realtor, so donate early and double your donation!
If you find yourself fortunate in these times, please consider donating what you can. With your help, Pinewood students can thrive in the Hybrid and Distance learning environments.
