In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
Lev is 7 years old and is the youngest of three children. He has cerebral palsy. His mother is raising the three children alone because for the last 6 years her husband has been in the anti-terrorist operation zone in Eastern Ukraine.
We recently raised funds to provide Lev with formula and diapers for the next 3 months. His situation left an impression on us and we wanted to know how else we could help improve his life. His mother didn't want to ask for much, but with prompting she said she could not afford any therapy for Lev.
So we said we can help with that! Want to join us?
