Masha is 6 years old and has Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome. Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome (WHS) is an extremely rare chromosomal disorder that affects many parts of the body. Masha was born with a cleft lip and palate, heart disease, kidney issues (reflux) and recurrent chest infections. Masha's mother is raising her alone and their monthly income is only US$100
In 2018 Maya's Hope funded cleft palate repair surgery, physical therapy, medications, diapers and formula for Masha. She is now thriving!
We want to continue to support Masha and her mama in 2019! We are raising funds to cover speech language therapy, physical therapy, hippotherapy, formula, diapers and medications for Masha!
In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
