The creative industry in Philadelphia has been one of the hardest hit industries from COVID-19. As social distancing has shut down museums and ended performances, the individual artists - as well as the venues and galleries - have lost out on one of their primary sources of revenue.
Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (PVLA) volunteers are on the front lines helping artists and organizations. This entails the review of cancelled performance contracts for possible recourse, navigating of the maze of stimulus package provisions and disaster relief funds, and consulting arts organizations on proper employment policies and practices in light of the current work climate.
Now more than ever, independent artists, inventors, cultural organizations, and creative small businesses need the pro bono legal services that PVLA has to offer. But we can’t do it alone.
We ask you to support us while we support the arts and culture sector that is working to adapt to our current environment by offering virtual free tours and performances to continue to engage with their audiences.
Your generosity and support will ensure that PVLA can continue to serve our clients in the arts community as they seek to make it through this time of crisis.
