The Philly Against Police Brutality project at the Philadelphia Liberation Center (“PLC”) is committed to uprooting racist violence directed against our communities. Our proudest accomplishment to date is organizing the 100,000-strong march on June 6th, one of the largest demonstrations in Philadelphia's history.
Philly Against Police Brutality relies exclusively on the donations of people who support the fight for justice in the face of racist police violence. WE ARE ASKING FOR YOUR URGENTLY-NEEDED SUPPORT TO SUSTAIN OUR WORK.
We are enthusiastic leaders and participants in the historic wave of protest that swept the country in the wake of the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and so many other Black people targeted by police.
Our commitment is to help the remarkable energy that has emerged in the streets in recent weeks become a powerful, long-term force to end racism. We believe that society's resources should be used to meet people's needs instead of being spent on police who harass, abuse and kill Black and other oppressed people.
Our organizing is based out of the Philadelphia Liberation Center, a community center in Kensington that is sponsored by Philadelphia for Justice. This vital neighborhood hub also hosts regular educational events such as study groups and film screenings on current events and other issues of public interest. In addition, the Unity & Survival grocery delivery program for those especially at risk of contracting COVID-19, the Escuelita Oscar Romero after-school program for youth, and a wide range of other initiatives can be found at the PLC.
Philadelphia for Justice is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization recognized by the IRS and the fiscal sponsor of the Philly Against Police Brutality project.
