As a professional procrastinator, I wanted to do something that was really challenging and scary and took a long time to prepare for. In school I was the best at cramming for a test, or writing a term paper the day before it was due - consistently getting high marks. So, why change?
Now I run a company where the current state is a reflection on what was done during the months prior. Everything builds on itself. Too many times I've ended up in a tough spot and it wasn't because I did something wrong 2 weeks ago, it was because 6 months ago I was doing something wrong or not doing anything at all, and I got punched in the face!
Time to really get punched in the face. And I know, if I don't prepare for this for long enough, I'm gonna get hit hard and it's gonna hurt a lot. In this case, procrastination is not an option.
Help me break the habit of procrastination while raising money for a good cause. To boost the incentive to raise money, I will match the highest donation, up to $500.
I chose a charity in a field no one wants to talk about — mental health. Founded in 1986, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research and educational organization that develops medical, legal, and cultural contexts for people to benefit from the careful uses of psychedelics and marijuana.
MAPS recently began Phase 3 trials of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This is the final phase of research required by the FDA before MDMA-assisted psychotherapy may become an approved medicine. Check out more of their story at https://www.crowdrise.com/mdma.
