Our theaters are closed, but the Philadelphia Film Society is still open.
All of us at PFS are committed to protecting our film-loving patrons, without whom we wouldn't have a reason to exist, and now more than any other time in our thirty-year history, we need your help. Please donate today to support our mission as we keep entertaining and educating the public through film in this unprecedented time of pandemic.
Ticket sales—our biggest source of revenue—have been impossible since March 13, when we swiftly complied with the government’s social distancing guidelines and our theaters went dark. We also made the difficult choice to cancel our 2020 SpringFest, the warmup to the multi-week Philadelphia Film Festival that you know and love.
Coupled with adhering to health guidance from the city and the commonwealth, film studios have pushed back the dates of their new releases, meaning that we are faced with an uncertain date for reopening our theaters. Amidst the Philadelphia Film Center and PFC at the Roxy being dormant, our staff have dedicated themselves to bringing you streaming options and original online content. We also continue to plan for the 29th Philadelphia Film Festival in late October. We're excited for the day in the near future when we can welcome you into our theaters again, so that you, your family, and friends can safely experience films on the big screen, as they deserve to be seen.
We know that you’ve likely been inundated with worthy causes urgently asking for your assistance. We’re so grateful for your past support of PFS, attendance at our screenings, and engagement with our programs. Thank you for choosing us and for recognizing the vital importance of providing the public with access to arts and culture, especially at a time of great crisis. We are hopeful you can help us again now, so that we will continue to be there for you and your loved ones in the future. We do it all because we're deeply passionate about films and we know that you are, too! Please make a contribution to help sustain our operations and keep our staff working to bring you online programming while we are closed and exciting new events to begin once our doors reopen.
