Howdy, Folx! I’m Susie, a PhD student and weight lifting enthusiast from Austin, Texas. As a queer ally I am committed to an inclusive and supportive environment for ALL athletes. That’s why I will be participating in Pull For Pride, an “international deadlift party” that takes place in multiple cities throughout the month of June (National Pride Month).
Since its 2017 inception, Pull For Pride has raised over $280,000 for LGBTQIA2-centered nonprofits, making the event series both fun AND impactful!
The proceeds of the Austin event where I will be lifting go directly to Out Youth. Out Youth provides programs and services that promote the educational, mental, emotional, physical and social development of LGBTQIA2 youth and their allies. Out Youth’s programs, services, and partnerships aim to provide LGBTQIA2 youth and their allies with opportunities to develop positive self-esteem, identify, and cultivate peer support networks, and prepare for a successful adulthood.
This year I am raising 1$ for every pound I will attempt to lift: 670$ (I get three lifts). If you can afford to, please donate a few bucks to help me reach my goal!
AND if you wanna see me lift heavy shit whilst wearing a glitter tutu and rainbow socks, come cheer for me at 10am on June 6, 2020 at Liberation Barbell Club, 3800 Drossett Dr. Suite A Austin TX 78744.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! xoxo
