The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and its mission were integral to the creation of PGH Con. When I first dreamed of starting a new tabletop game convention in the Pittsburgh metro, I thought it would be wonderful to do *something* to help a great organization in the Pittsburgh area. Honestly, there are so many doing so much to help the people in this region. But I quickly thought of the the GPCFB—in past years, I had volunteered to help their Produce to People program, and I had lots of connections. I knew the impact the organization made first-hand. My co-coordinators and I had decided to hold an auction during our inaugural convention to donate to the Food Bank.
Fast forward a year. With our community still reeling from the effects of a global pandemic, we moved PGH Con online. And while this helps us make PGH Con's first real event more affordable for folks attending, it also gives another opportunity to help feed people in need and eliminate hunger in the Pittsburgh area.
While PGH Con Online is free, we hope that people attending will consider donating to the GPCFB.
