Hello, and welcome to my fundraising page! I'm incredibly excited to be running the NYC Half Marathon. I've run two half marathons before, but never in the winter, so this should be interesting!
I'm equally as excited about running and fundraising with the PAWS NY team. PAWS is an organization that is near and dear to my heart, as I have been volunteering with them since 2014. My first assignment with PAWS was with a wonderful woman named Connie and her cat Chili (pictured above.) My weekly visits with this dynamic duo was something I looked forward to every Monday, as they quickly grew to be more than just helping to care for Chili. I learned so much about Connie and Chili over the years (he came all the way from France!), and would frequently enjoy parts of her favorite film, The Sound of Music, with her while she sang along.
It's because of PAWS NY that people like Connie are able to maintain these important relationships with their furry companions who are more than just pets. I'm incredibly proud to be involved with such a special organization.
The mission of PAWS NY is to help New York City’s most vulnerable residents remain with their pets by delivering critical programs and services through a community of partners and volunteers. Our programs help keep pets in their homes while protecting and promoting the human-animal bond that is so physically and psychologically valuable to our clients. Thus, our motto: helping people by helping pets.
Pets provide us with companionship, unconditional love and numerous physical health benefits. Funds raised through the 2020 United Airlines NYC Half will help protect this relationship for those facing challenges from advancing age, disability, or illness.
