Pete's Posse
Meet Pete of "Pete's Posse." He is an awesome kid who loves swimming, going to the beach, riding his bike, and running on the treadmill. He's a typical teenager who also happens to be diagnosed with autism. Living with autism has been extremely challenging for Pete. He has difficulty with social interactions and is very limited in his communication. All the things we take for granted are a source of frustration and confusion for him all day, every day. Autism is a life long disability which will have a major impact on Pete's ability to find a job or live independently.
We are excited to participate in the Walk for Autism Awareness to benefit the Autism Society of Berks County. As a former board member, I have seen firsthand how dedicated this organization is to "improving the lives of all those affected by autism." With funds raised during this event. Pete and other kids diagnosed with autism can enjoy their wonderful programs FOR FREE including family events, music groups. yoga groups, specialized social skills groups, and much more. ASA Berks also provides grants to local organizations that provide specialized services to those with autism. In addition, they are committed to educating the community with their podcast "Inspiration & Impact" along with handouts and resource information.
Thank you for helping us help the Autism Society of Berks County! We appreciate your continued support of our team, of Pete, and of an organization that has helped so many families feel safe and secure in the often overwhelming world of autism spectrum disorder.
With love and gratitude,
The Spencer Family
