On July 23, 2013 I lost my dad to MSA. It is a disease not many people, or even doctors, know much about. It slowly shuts down the body, causing the loss of ability to walk, speak, and do most things. Most people only live 5-10 years after being diagnosed. My dad fought hard, resisting the need for a walker/wheel chair as long as possible as he was a very proud man and only 50 years old. He fell out of bed one night, unable to get up, and ended up needing surgery on his leg. From there, his body could just not heal and he ended up passing away in a rehab facility about a month later. It was the hardest thing I’ll ever have to do in life- watch my father, my hero, suffer for so long with nothing that could be done to help. I want to keep his memory alive and being the type of person he was, would have wanted to help others who are fighting this horrific disease. We NEED research and to spread awareness. Please consider donating to help support his cause in honor of him. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
