This year has been a challenging year for everyone. Pencils 4 Kids understands that we have all been trying our best to keep healthy and safe. As you can imagine, the children and community in Jamaica need our help more than ever. As a country that depends on tourism, Jamaica has been hit incredibly hard by this pandemic. In addition, schools are currently doing remote learning. This poses a huge challenge for the students of Quickstep. Pencils 4 Kids has been working with the school and Jamaica's educational department to bring internet to the community. Once that problem is solved we still need to help the students get learning devices to do school work. We hope to soon be able to get tablets or computers for each child.
Pencils 4 Kids has been working hard to purchase a school bus for Quickstep Primary School. Usually the students are walking along narrow unpaved roads in the mountains. It is incredibly dangerous and tiring for them. Once we have the school bus we can safely transport all the students to and from school.
As always, we continue to champion higher education for this community. Our first scholarship recipient, Jewell Smith, graduated from high school this summer. She has her eyes set on college and achieving her dreams of one day becoming a neurosurgeon. We are incredibly proud of her hard work! She's helping us this year to spread the word about Pencils 4 Kids.
Pencils 4 Kids understands that this has been a difficult year for many. Please help us help these students. If you have the ability to support us, we are truly grateful. Know that every little bit helps and no donation is too small.
Thank you for all your support, without your generosity none of this would be possible.
