Building Bridges Worldwide and the McCombs School of Business are excited to be organizing our annual McCombs MAP Trip for 2018. This year we are visiting a community called Santa Palencia in Guatemala, a coffee farming community about 2 hours north of Guatemala City. We will be constructing new bathrooms, play areas and refurbishing the existing school structures for the children of the community. The bathrooms are much needed, as something we take for granted we want to make it the same for the community. The existing school structures are in a state of disrepair and this will dramatically improve their learning conditions and obviously make play time that much more fun!
Short side note to those that already donated when we had planned to go to the community of Penas Blancas in Nicaragua. Due to the continued civil unrest in Nicaragua we decided to change locations to Santa Palencia, Guatemala. This decision was not made lightly, but the safety of our group is the number one concern on these trips. This location will still allow us to help a community with similar needs and have a successful Building Bridges trip.
