We are participating in the Carmel Rotary's Community Basketball Challenge to support our local not-for-profit agencies.
Pegasus' mission is to enchance the lives of individuals with disabilities and challenges through equine-assisted activities and therapies.
For more than forty years Pegasus Therapeutic Riding, Inc. has positively impacted the lives of thousands of individuals with special needs and their families through the special power of horses, hands and hearts. We continue to be a vibrant, mission-focused non-profit providing the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding and other equine-assisted activities to physically, emotionally and developmentally challenged individuals at stables in Connecticut and New York.
“Horses don’t judge you by how clearly you speak.”
First word ever uttered by a six-year old autistic rider to his horse, “Walk on!” His mom, instructor and volunteers filled up with tears.
Our recently launched Veterans Program has shown to be life changing for the remarkable men and women who have served our country. Our team of horses and certified instructors work with our veterans throughout the program where the benefits include; decreased anxiety, increased confidence, improved anger management skills, decreased stress levels, and re-integration into the community.
“How much they (the horses) relate to me, how you can sense what they’re feeling and they can sense what you’re feeling. And when you get to the point of being in your body how that connects with the horse, how you let things go and the horse can sense it.” John Bourges- Veteran and Director of Joseph P. Dwyer Veterans Vet2Vet Program
