I am super excited and honored to share that I have been selected to run the 2020 Boston Marathon for Peer Health Exchange Boston, a 501(c)3 non profit that has advanced health equity and improved health outcomes for young people since 2006.
It is without a doubt that high school students face everyday challenges related to mental health, substance abuse, and sexual health. Peer Health Exchange Boston’s mission is to empower young people with the knowledge, skills, and resources to make healthy decisions. They do this by training college students to teach a skills-based health curriculum in low-income urban high schools across Greater Boston, Lynn, Malden, and Chelsea.
I chose to partner with Peer Health Exchange because of their mission and the great work they do with under-resourced high schools. Lynn and Malden are also two cities that are near and dear to me: Lynn is my hometown, where I have spent the last 20+ years—having graduated from Lynn Classical, one of the high school partners of Peer Health Exchange. Malden is the city where I was born, and where I currently have the pleasure of working since 2016.
Although my fundraising commitment is $10,000, I have set a personal goal of raising $12,000. 100% of your tax deductible donation will go directly to Peer Health Exchange. With your support they can expand to more under-served communities, and reach more young people with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to make healthy decisions.
Please join me in this 26.2 mile journey!
