Paz Oaxaca is a small, community-based nonprofit in Oaxaca, Mexico. Paz offers equitable quality education and comprehensive community programs to an intentionally diverse group of children and their communities. Paz hopes to create a community of empowered children and families who have the resources and support they need to thrive and make positive changes in society. Many of our Paz programs (including a Montessori school, community garden, and community Makerspace) are non-income-generating. Paz gives scholarships to over half of the students who attend programs that do have a cost. Because of this, Paz relies heavily on donations to continue to support their community through a range of programming.
My name is Monika Sharma, I am a recent Mount Holyoke College graduate. I will be pursuing a Master's Degree in Regional Planning at Umass Amherst in the fall. The focus of my studies will be affordable housing and climate induced migration.
I will be working for Paz Oaxaca this June-August to support their community programs and help to organize their community Makerspace. Because of the temporary nature of my internship I will be working primarily in the Makerspace to help develop the resources made available to the community. As part of my internship, I am raising $500 to support community programs, most specifically the Montessori program. All of the money raised in the campaign will go directly to Paz Oaxaca for their programming and education services.
Paz is grateful for any and all donations! For donations over $10 I will personally send you a postcard! For donations over $20, I will bring you back a special gift and for donations over $50 I will be eternally indebted to you (along with sending you a postcard and gift)!
