The Paxton Theatre Foundation is asking for your support to help us complete some imperative roof repairs. The last major roof work done to the Paxton Theatre was 20 years ago. Since that time the rubber surface has been degraded by the weather and small, unnoticed leaks have caused major damage to both the roof surface and support structure. These repairs are underway, but we desperately need financial assistance from the community to help us finish funding the large project. We ask that you make a donation today to help us secure this historic structure and continue our mission of providing a variety of performing arts options here, in Ohio's Appalachian Foothills.
Over the past five years, extensive renovations and repairs have been made to the historic Paxton Theatre in Bainbridge, Ohio. Most of these upgrades were made in part due to the generosity of local philanthropists Tim & Deb Koehl. Tim and Deb purchased the building, made extensive upgrades over their five-year ownership, encouraged the community and area organizations to make use of the building, created a nonprofit performing arts organization to manage operations of the venue, and then gifted the entire property back to the foundation when they felt they had done all they could do to better the historic property for the community's use.
The Paxton Theatre Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, has now been operating and maintaining the building over the past year. COVID-19 has had a very negative impact on arts organizations across the country and has eliminated all previous sources of income for the local group. The nonprofit has tried various sources of funding to help with the current repair needs, but have come up short. As more organizations have found themselves impacted by COVID-19, funding opportunities have become much more competitive. We hope that you are able to help us support the performing arts here in the Paint Valley. A donation of any amount is so very much appreciated.
