Every spring it's the same story. By now, we know what to expect.
Emails, Calls, Texts come rolling in-often far too many to keep up with on a daily basis.
For many, Spring is the time where we look forward to change. A change in weather, brighter days, getting out and enjoying the fresh air and simply being thankful we made it thru another blistery season.
This spring is a little different than the others, with the current times and extra precautions in place. So many of us are more restricted or limited than what we could have ever anticipated.
Spring to Furry Friends Rockin' Rescue means Life, and sadly, death for some.
The notices that tend to pile up on our cell phones or in our in-boxes about new litters, lost or found furbabies, often are followed up with notices of the sick, the needy, the injured and forgotten.
The numbers are staggering as is, but due to many things that didn't go our way to help do our best in terms of preventative measures is scaring us today. This Spring, we are expecting more numbers than we have ever seen due to the times and our hands are tied. Nature is taking its course and the animals at large are reproducing.
In 2020 alone, FFRR has taken in +300 animals. We have had to transport several out of our area so they can receive the care and attention needed. Much of this is determined by the lack of resources and adoptions happening in our area.
And we even had to slow our intake on dogs due to a large Parvo-virus outbreak that set us back 3-4 weeks and thousands of dollars. However, we were able to successfully help a few hoarding cases during that time thanks to an amazing group of volunteers and fosters and partnerships with other rescues. We have incurred a large, ongoing vet bill for our organization just to rehabilitate many of the ones that came in terribly sick and are still in recovery. We lost a handful of animals from another situation, despite multiple treatments, not for lack of love, but because we simply couldnt do more for them and they were too sick by the time they came to us.
On a lighter note, FFRR has successfully adopted out approximately 200 animals this year! Many have been local to our Bis/Man area and some to other parts of ND and neighboring areas. We have many friends and fans who support us across the US and we are so greatful that we can look at all of these success stories to remind us even the hardest days and saddest journeys are well worth the struggles.
We continue to provide services as best we can and our monthly vet bills run us close to $7-10,000 a month. One or two serious emergent cases can set us back quite easily. With the postponement of many public activities and fundraisers we are looking down a long barrel. *This past week alone we have taken in over 15 animals, some pregnant.
We hope to continue to be able to provide services as needed and support these animals in need but as a Non-profit we are experiencing uncertain times.
Go FundMe is offering a matching donation as long as we can raise at least $1000.
That can help ensure 4-5 dogs receive basic care and shots, it could potentially help 8-10 cats. In this season, maybe only help 1 momma and her litter. So you can see how it adds up so quickly.
Would you consider supporting FFRR today so we can ensure their Tomorrow is a brighter day?
Your support and consideration is truly appreciated.
