Andre is a former stray cat who recently found his forever family after more than 3 years with PAWS. He needed to resolve some major health issues and be re-socialized before he was finally ready for his new home. Andre is one of the thousands of local animals that PAWS has helped over the last 36 years. Click here to read his story.
PAWS is an all-volunteer animal welfare organization dedicated to helping homeless cats in Massachusetts. We’ve been an active member of the community for more than 36 years, partnering with our neighbors and friends in Wakefield, Reading, Lynnfield, Stoneham, and surrounding towns to care for animals in need.
Our devoted team of volunteers goes above and beyond to help local felines. Many of these animals have been abused, neglected, or abandoned and are found hungry and scared, in need of urgent medical attention. PAWS ensures each animal has food, a nurturing foster home, and the medical care they need, including exams/diagnostics (blood work, x-rays, ultrasounds, etc.), vaccinations, spay/neutering, medications, and urgent surgeries and treatments.
Depending on their backgrounds, some cats may not be used to interacting with people, so our PAWS foster parents spend extra time with these animals, patiently socializing them and building trust—sometimes over months or years—until each animal is ready to be matched with their forever family.
No matter their age or medical issues, PAWS gives every animal a second chance at finding the love and security of a permanent home.
