A little over three years ago, I lost my best friend to prescription pain pill addiction. There really isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him or miss his presence in my life. And, there also aren't many days where I don't ask myself if I did enough of if I should have done more. But, as I begin to reminisce on Ted's life, I know he wouldn't want us to think about the could haves and should haves. He would call me selfish for thinking that way! His entire life, he was one of the most selfless friends/brothers I could have asked for. Not to mention his bear hugs could temporarily temporarily cure world peace.
I cant even imagine my high school experience without him. Football barbeques at 4605 Watergap that lasted way too late, Weekend caravans to Lake Placid, maybe a ride or two on Wild Thing down to Florida, but most importantly those conversations we had when it was just the two of us. His intellect and worldly views were really a few of the things that set him apart from everyone else. He could hold a conversation with you about anything, and he'd certainly have his opinion to share, but not without ever taking into account your opinion too. He's probably yelling down to me now telling me I'm overthinking this one....I'll always be greatful for the time we had, and the memories we made.
I, along with a number of Ted's CBA highschool friends, have set up a fundraising page in honor of the 1st Annual "Hanging With Ted" movement to support those fighting pain pill addiction. 100% of the funds will go to the Shatterproof organization - a nonprofit at the forefront of reversing the course of the opioid epidemic.
The CBA/Pavone's Pizza team will be participating in a scavenger hunt on April 7th, 2018 to raise support and awareness in the battle against opioid addiction. The Big Apple Hunt is a NYC Charity Scavenger Hunt where teams will compete and raise awareness for opioid addiction in the US. We'll be taking pictures un front of Ted's Favorite things, NYC landmarks, and other shenanigans in and around the Big Apple.
Following the scavenger hunt there will be a Reception at Libation NYC with Music from David Solomon (DJ Sol). Please join us for open bar, food, games, prizes and more!
We'd love for you to donate to our team! Every contribution is important to us. If you'll also be in NYC, please make sure to purchase your tickets, as well as donating what you can to our scavenger hunt team, for the after party HERE.
