Last year I missed the Paddle for a Cause.
Shannon and I usually make a weekend out of the paddle. 2018 was no different, we arrived at the Golden Nugget around 3:00 Friday afternoon, checked in and headed down to try our luck on the one armed bandit! At 6:00 we headed out to the deck forthe PFAC saftey meeting, held the Friday night before the paddle every year. We just arrived at the meeting when I received a call that my hardware store was on fire. I ran, in shock, to my truck and drove back to Somers Point.
The next five months were the hardest five months of my life. My world was turned upsidedown. No longer am I selling paint, lightbulbs and nut and bolts. I am now learing how to rebuild a business, dealing with contractors, suppliers, insurance, government regulators, inspectors, well you get the picture.
My story , while difficult, pales in comparision to someone who has just received a cancer diagnosis or is battling for their life. The DRCF's mission, to financilaly support individuals who are facing the most difficult challange of their lives is something I have always been proud to be a part of.
This year I will be providing saftey and support to the paddlers on a wave runner.
I hope you can help me again with an annual contribution to the DRCF, Paddle for a Cause.
