Family has always been a part of our vision for our lives. When Edna and I married three and a half years ago, we hoped against hope that we would be blessed with a child. In pursuit of this, we have been working with Bethany Christian Services (our adoption agency) for about two years, waiting for an expectant mom to choose us as parents for her infant. We have had several close calls which have ended in disappointment. Currently, we are fostering a four-month-old baby boy whom we hope to adopt. We are also approved to adopt another child and would love to have a sibling for our little man. I have gone to part-time work so that either Edna or I can be with the baby(s) all of the time. This shift has caused our budget to become very tight, and, as you may know, adoption can be costly (over $25,000).
We recently were given an opportunity for a matching grant--if we raise $2000, Pure Gift From God, an adoption funding organization, will match those funds to give us $2000 more dollars for a total of $4000. We believe God will provide the funds we need for any adoption He wants us to have, so we don't want anyone to feel compelled or pressured to contribute to our cause.
