I've been working with the Navy and Marine Corps for the past 16+ years. My father, grandfather, uncles, cousins and numerous friends and co-workers have served our country in times of war and peace. I've seen young men training with the goal to be a Navy SEAL. I've seen the young faces of Sailors and Marines walking the halls between classes as they prepare for their assignments. I've stood silently above the USS Arizona and watched the lowering of the Colors at the USS Utah. These and many other experiences have deepened my appreciation for the men and women of our Armed Services who put themselves in harm's way.
So this year my son Tyson and I will participate in Pat's Run that honors him and raises money to assist military veterans and their spouses in funding their college education. Running 4.2 miles isn't really that much but it is something my son and I can do to remember Pat along with many others who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend this great Nation, as well as help those who were willing to do the same as they pursue their dreams.
