Pathways is attacking systemic poverty with a variety of successful, empirically proven programs. Pathways has been the only interfaith community development organization working in Petersburg since its inception in 1995 and incorporation in 1997. Pathways is the leading builder of affordable green housing in Petersburg. Pathways began an affiliated YouthBuild program in 2001, working with opportunity youth to earn their diploma, enroll in secondary education, or find employment. Pathways opened the first free specialty medical care clinic in Petersburg in 2007, assisting the uninsured and underinsured obtain care. In 2008, Pathways opened its state-of-the-art headquarters in a remodeled grocery store. In 2009, we opened the only free specialized training school in the area. In 2013, we began a partnership to provide job training and employment assistance to local correctional facilities. In 2017, we opened a financial opporuntity center to improve financial literacy in our area.
With a staff of 21, a budget of 1.7 million, and 10,000 volunteer hours in 2017 alone, Pathways continues to work with Petersburg residents to build lives and awaken hope for this challenged city.

Pathways addresses the needs of our changing world and equips youth and adults with the necessary skills and credentials for today’s labor market. Our efforts focus on Youth Workforce Development, Technical Training, and Offender Re-Entry.
The health of a community is directly tied to the health of its members. Pathways addresses the health and wellness needs of our community in a myriad of ways. We operate a free specialty clinic and our other efforts include: Lead Safe Housing, Organic Gardening, Nutrition Education, Exercise Classes, and Substance Abuse Counseling.
One of Pathways’ goals is to foster development that leads to the health of both a neighborhood and its residents as well as relationships between persons and their environment. Our efforts focus on: Healthy Housing, Disaster Recovery, Green Space Development, and Community Engagement.
